With the objective of digital literacy for disadvantaged youth, E-India conducted an introductory class on the fundamentals of computer science at Rainbows Montessori School. The students of Grades 3 and 4 were introduced to a wide array of topics from the rudimentary question, “What is a computer?” to the knowledge of the internet. The students participated with fervour and engaged in a stimulating round of quizzes to showcase their learning. Having garnered knowledge on the basics of computers, the students expressed their excitement about the upcoming class.

E-India's second class at Rainbows Montessori School was conducted with the objective of introducing programming to students. By the end of the class, students were familiarised with the essence of programming and made acquainted with Scratch. The class ended with students executing a simple program “Hello, World” on Scratch.

In our third class at Rainbows Montessori School, we dived deeper into programming on Scratch. Students were introduced to the rudimentary concepts of variables, conditionals and loops. The class concluded with students looking forward to begin programming a game on Scratch.

In our fourth class, the students applied their knowledge through basic programming on Scratch. The students were divided into groups with each small group working on a computer/laptop to fulfil the required tasks of the day. They learned, applied, struggled and asked questions. Finally, the students were excited and proud at successfully producing the correct output. It was a fun and collaborative experience!

In this class at Rainbows Montessori School, the students took the next step in their programming journey and wrote programs using variables, conditionals, loops and functions. With some help and support, the students were able to successfully generate outputs and gained a better understanding of the Scratch programming interface.

Mathematics Workshop
The NGO workshop aimed to empower young students by teaching them essential math skills and fostering their enthusiasm for the subject. The workshop employed engaging and interactive teaching methods to instill confidence, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities among participants.
The workshop was organised in a neighbouring village for students of Grades 1-5 and began with an introduction and icebreaker activities to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. The importance of mathematics in everyday life, career opportunities, and personal development was highlighted.
Participants engaged in hands-on activities and games that made math learning enjoyable and interactive. Concepts such as number sense, basic operations, measurement, geometry, and problem-solving skills were emphasized.
The workshop also focused on creative approaches to teaching math, exploring innovative strategies to promote student engagement and understanding. Visual aids, real-world examples, and technology integration were discussed as tools to enhance learning outcomes.
Throughout the workshop, participants were introduced to various resources and support systems available to them. These resources aimed to further their learning journey and provide ongoing assistance.
Overall, the workshop served as a platform to equip young students with the necessary math skills, nurture their interest in the subject, and empower them to become confident problem solvers.
